Will an USB aound adpter conflict with my M-Audio Delta 2496?

My onboard sound card doesn't work with my M Audio delta 2496. So I'm thinking of getting(for onlince chatting) a usb sound adapter. I want to know whether this too will not work with the m audio? I can't add a mic directly to the M-Audio cuz the sound produced is far too low to be audible.

It should allow you to use the USB microphone as long as the application allows you to select the audio input.

Possibly. You'll have to go to the Windows Control Panel, as set the Default Output device as the M-Audio, and the Default Input Device as the USB adaptor.
