does the ASUS A7V600 motherboard use the -5.0VDC rail? the ATX spec was changed and modern power supplies do not have that line populated. need to know if they will still work with this mobo. thx.

Yes. Any decent atx ps should work; some have 24 pin connectors with 4 that can break off for older boards. Mine came with a 24 to 20 pin adapter, which also works well.

Just a follow up for anyone that cares. ASUS came back with a very terse answer saying "yes, you need to use the old power supply." My old power supply would not work with my desired configuration so I experiment to find out for myself. I cut the lead for the -5V rail and let it run for over a week. No obvious issues so I ordered a new power supply (ATX 2.2). It, too, seems to just work and it powers all of my new devices.

Kudos to the tech support guys at PC Power & Cooling for giving me way more insight than ASUS.
