hey, well it seems like waiting for the 5000 series kinda sucked =p, (just cant pay that high) but yea my recent choice of vid card is now out of stock and now im wondering which one to choose. It was a sapphire 4870 1GB.
The GPU is gonna be settling in with a I5 cpu and 500 w psu.
GPU is gonna be played on 1280x1024 screen, cant go higher and probably wont for another 2 years.
Well now i narrowed down my choices to:
1 sapphire 4870 512 MB + 4 gb ripjaw $205
2 MSI 260GTX 896 MB +4 GB ripjaw at $220
3 XFX 4850 1GB + 4GB ripjaw no combo deal 205 (worst than no 1 right?)
4 lowest chance ill buy (4890 1gb _4gb ripjaw 256 o.0!!!!

THX for your time!!!

2nd one in my opinion. only $15 more for a gtx260 and 896mb ram helps u more than then 512mb. its just my opinion but i think u wont go wrong with either 1 or 2. but 2 seems to be attractive as its only $15 more

if you decide to get the Gtx 260 make sure it's the 216 version, not the older one
otherwise get the 4870
you could just wait till the prices drop a little when the new cards come out and save some cash $$$

I fully agree with this.
You could also get a secondhand 4870 next week when everyone will be selling them in favor of 5870's.

not really tied or anything, new egg is the only place i can buy any computer parts and 230 is like my max for computer + Ram combo 4GB. And wouldnt it take pretty long to lower the prices on these GPU? like the 955 cpu for example, it didnt go down at all with the i5 release. but im planning to buy in the next 3-4 days but yea its been 2 months of waiting for me lol.

if u play at 1200 resolution 512mb would be more than enough. even at 1920 res in many games 512mb does just fine. but up2 1600 resolution u will be just tension-less with a 512mb memory so yes its just fine for u. but like i said gtx260 for $15 more seems like a good deal.

At that resolution it would be enough but if you looking to try and cover 2 years then the more ram on the card the better really. I have only ever run ATI cards, no real reason just the way its worked out. If i was in your position though i would go for the MSI 260GTX 896 MB +4 GB ripjaw at $220 deal, just check its the newer model as Ehsan W posted.
