Hi guys ..I just want to know if my system could be compared with consoles or it's just too low to said about it a word like that
My Specs :
Motherboard : Nvidia Geforce 8200 Motherboard
Processor : AMD Phenom II X4 940 (@3.38 GHZ) Rams : 4GB of DDR2
Video Card : Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT - 32 stream processors - Dedicated memory 512 MB DDR2 [core clock @ 650 MHZ / memory clock @ 500 MHZ]
Total Video Memory : 2303 MB
HDD: Western Digital 200 GB SATA
OS : Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate X64 Service Pack 2
so my specs could compare to the PS3 or the XBOX 360 ?? I mean for gaming..which is the best then the worst??? I've put every detail i know about my system specs and i search about PS3 & XBOX 360 components..I found nothing
@dingumf that's not a nice way to say that the details are present in the Internet...
@makook_99 Overall your PC has very good config except the main component that decides whether your PC would be good for gaming or not - Graphics card...
The 8600GT is not good for gaming...Upgrade to something better like Nvidia GTS 250/ GTX 260/ GTX 275 or ATI HD 4850/ HD 4870/ HD 4890...Then your PC would really be a very good gaming machine...
The only problem is the 8600GT, replace that with any of what gkay09 (he didn't include the 4770) and it'd be faster than the PS3/360 could ever hope to be.
In my opinion, PC's are a lot better because it is versatile , repairable (DIY), Parts are quite easy to find, and it can look waaaay cooler than any consoles out there.. GOD! I love PC's ^^.
I don't hate Consoles... that much. Its just so standard i mean they look the same, and if it breaks even if you're well versed in electronic stuff i doubt that you can repair it without loosing your head trying to find parts to repair it with and i'm sure you can't upgrade your console as you can upgrade a pc.
nuff' said PC's are better if not the best. cheers ^^

If your PSU is too weak for one of the cards gKay09 suggested, the HD4670 needs no auxilliary power and is still much better for games than the 8600GT.

THX alot guys ..otherwise give me a brake dinfumf..I'm not the only one who didn't know what specs has the PS3 or XBOX 360..
What only i know about the both is that the PS3 has a cell processor (8 cores) processor..and the X360 has only 3 cores and the 2 consoles's processors runs at same speed 3.2 GHZ (eatch core i mean )
and the PS3 Has a GPU designed as the geforce 7800 and has a 550 MB, while the X360 has a GPU that has 500 MB of memory..
I know the PS3 is much better than the X360 (at least if it was a processor comparaison)
I want to ask one question..do the Cell processor that is in PS3 could be comparable with one such mine (AMD Phenom II X4 940 @3.38 ghz) ????
THX AGAIN

No. The cell is a completely different architecture and could be compared nearer to the PowerPC, but even between those two there are still a lot of differences.
As an example, there was a supercomputer assembled made up of a few hundred Opterons and a lot of Cell's. The cell's do the floating point number crunching, but the Opterons do what the Cell couldn't do.
I suggest you swap your GPU to a real one, and then I mean not some other dedicated 512Mb, You should use money here.
Also, you can't really compare your machines like that, it fully depends on what you like to play if you ask me. I am pretty sure a PC gives more alternatives of gaming, and it's used my more players, and is not only for gaming since you are able to do almost everything you want on it.
It's up to you, swap out the GPU and you have a great Gaming system
I just answered his question i'm sorry if it offends you. amnotanoobie. Btw. you can't really make a clear comparison between consoles and pc's, why? because computer hardware and the hardware used in ps3 and xbox360 is entirely different say for example.
It is very difficult to compare a PC to a PS3 because there are no benchmarks and they are using different components. The best I can decipher is a ps3 would be the equivalent of a laptop with core2 E6400, 512MB, geforce go7900gtx. This is only my approximation so therefore I could be wrong.
A desktop PC with an 8800GTX would walk all over a PS3. First of all, the PS3 GPU is based on a G70 and we already know that the G80 will beat any configuration of the G70 graphics cards.
Also, a desktop with an 8800GTX can play Oblivion at 2560*1600 resolution with reasonable frame rates. A PS3 cannot do this. They are designed to game at a lot lower resolutions.
Then I see the pricing. A ps3 is only $999. whereas I would pay that much just for an 8800GTX, then the same again for a quad core CPU, couple hundred for PSU, RAM, HDD etc, etc, etc. I don't think it is physically possible for Sony to be able to produce a PS3 for such a price which would even go close to the performance of the latest desktop PC.
Finally, there is the power and heat consumption. In such a small enclosure and with only one exhaust fan which is for the PSU and System and Graphics cooling, how fast could a PS3 really run before it overheats. They only have a 380W power supply and typically draw between 150W-200W. Comparing this to a desktop PC with much larger casing, bigger fans and the option of watercooling I dont see how a ps3 could be running anywhere near as fast without overheating.
There is no doubt a good desktop PC is faster than a PS3. To answer your original question as to what it would compare to, My best guess would be a high-end desktop PC whos components are 12months old. I would be more inclined to compare a laptop to a ps3 considering they both would have the same constrictions of size and heat displacement. So a ps3 would compare to a topend laptop pc. Sony can spout 8core cell CPU's all they want, I think people are fooled by the ability of the ps3 because they are gaming on lower resolutions. Since we already know that a desktop PC beats a laptop PC anyday, how could it be possible for a ps3 to even compare to the latest highend gaming laptop computer, let alone a desktop? It doesn't, desktop wins hands down.
