Hello all,

I am going to upgrade RAM on my MSI-7267 m/b to the possible maximum. The manual says:
"The mainboard supports dual technology up to 2GB system memory" (weird grammar?)

And a little below it reads:
"The to the chipset resource deployment, the system density will only be detected up to 1+GB (not full 2GB) when each DIMM is installed with a 1GB memory module."

What do they mean by 1+GB? Is it, say, 1.1 GB or 1.9 GB? Won't I squander money if I buy 2 1GB modules for this motherboard?

Thanks in advance,
Anton

You can use 2x1gb or 2x2gb of pc6400 ram; 32 bit operating systems will only detect 3 gb; 64 bit all 4 gb of ram. I suggest the 2x2gb if the price is right; frys had some for $69.99 last week. Check newegg for similar deals.

Thank you, o1die. I ain't gonna have anything 64 bit in the near future, so let me ask one more thing: will 2Gb + 1GB work?

Probably, but perhaps in single channel? You don't save much, go for the 4 gb. Newegg has some ocz for $57 after $30 rebate of pc6400.
