RAM Bottleneck?

confused, someone told me not all RAM is used, i.e. 4GB ram bottlenecked by OS TO 3GB? im noob.. hope you can clear me out about this.. Thanks in advance!

  1. on a 32 bit operating system you can only address 3.2-3.5GB of ram. That is all the OS can "see"...the exact amount depends on what system devices you have. There are a good many articles you can read on the technical reasons (google 32bit OS ram limitations) but you will have to switch to a 64 bit OS to see more ram.
