I am having some issues burning CDs (not DVDs) on Windows XP (Professional
SP1). The CD burner is rated 52x burn and is made by BenQ. I am able to
read most CDs from the drive, however any/all write attempts fail with
built-in XP software, Nero, and EZ-CD. Actually, the very seldom (1 out of
the last 50 attempts) succeed. In addition, I only have intermittent
success reading burned disks in that drive as well as my DVD-ROM drive
(Pioneer). All purchased disks (software, audio, etc) seem to work fine. I
built the machine and I am not ruling out incorrect configuration.
Actually, I'm suspecting that.
I'm running an Athlon XP 1800 cpu with the Nforce 2 chipset (nForce 2 ATA
Controller 2.5) and Phoenix Award BIOS. I have recently installed the
latest drivers and software to support this from Nvidia. Both optical
drives are defaulting to "Ultra DMA 2 - Ultra33" in the controllers
properties in Device Manager; I have tried other settings. I'm hoping that
I just have things set wrong. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
