3d apps: nVidia or ATI?

Hi everyone i know this thread has the potential to become a fanboys warzone but thats not what i meant it to be..
Im about to build my next pc, and a week or two ago i did a thread aout it on the proper forum, heres the link.

My focus for that build are 3d applications, as 3d studio max, mudbox (zBrush), game engines, all stuff creative, you name it.

second place: games. So for a matter of budget and interoperability (work/games), no quadros etc

if you bother and read the thread youll notice there are almost no opinions on which grafic card i should get: wether an ati or a nVidia. I think ive been reading somewhere about nvidia performing better blablabla i really have no idea and thats why im here, to ask your opinion. (read the other post for more "background" infos)
