Here is a copy of a post I made at the intel/amd thread for help at slickdeals, it basically says it all.

Do you have a fry's or microcenter nearby?
Yes Both, I am for the moment only looking for a good cpu/mobo that would suit me

What is this PC going to be built for?
Gaming and general use, movies, music, web

what types of tasks/uses you'll be using it for?
*** If Gaming... what resolution/monitor will you be using?
this is extremely important for us to pick out an accurate video card for you?

I have not got a monitor yet but I already have a GPU, listed below, I also would prefer a mobo that I could SLi the GTS 250 with another one I may buy later, but its not a requirement

What is YOUR budget?
~$200-250 depending the cpu/mobo, I want the most suitable best deal

If YOU have any unreasonable brand preferences?
no real preference, just the best suitable cpu/mobo

Have YOU performed any research yet?
I have done a lot of research, but im not the best at being technically minded

If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts?
Parts I have
PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6817341018
CASE http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6811119197
HD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6822136319
RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6820231275
GPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6814133266

If YOU plan on overclocking?
I have never done this before, so I may prefer not to, I think the case I have has sufficient cooling so a CPU where I can get by with the stock fan would also be a plus. But I am not 100% against overclocking or buying a 3rd party cooler if the price/performance is worth it, I just have not done it before so I am hesitent.

When do you plan to build it?
As soon as I can, I will be doing to frys tomorrow morning to see if they have any good deals, especially if there are on anything that is suggested to me here.

Since you have a microcenter, I'd go with an i5-750. I'm pretty sure you can get them for $150 in-store.

ack sorry about the links
RAM is ddr 3 1333
GPU is GTS 250
PSU is OCZ 700W
CASE is HAF 922
HD WD640

for those suggesting i5, what mobo would you suggest that would still keep me in my price range
