im about to build a new system but im not sure which corsair psu to choose between 620w, 750w or 850w
but most likely, this will be the parts for now and i'll be completing all the fans of the antec 902 case while planning to sli my gpu in the near future..

cpu intel i7-920, 2.66ghz
mobo asus P6T DELUXE
gpu GTX 260 sp 216
DDR3 Corsair dominator ,TR3X6G1600C8D,88820
hd 500gig SEAGATE 16MBcache ST3500418AS
dvdRW samsung sh-s223
CASE ANTEC 902
LCD SAMSUNG 23" (P2370G)

will a 620w psu work? or do i need more than that to supply the 2 gpu in the future considering a lot of fans installed in the antec case?

thanks!

You would want a 750W PSU to SLI GTX 260's.

oh i see... you sure a 620w corsair hx series psu cant power it all?

That would be pushing it. The 620HX only has two PCI-E power connectors, so you would need to use adapters. I certainly wouldn't use a 620W PSU to power that system with SLI GTX 260 GPU's. The way I see it, if Corsair thought it could power a system that required four PCI-E power connectors they would have given it four PCI-E power connectors.

ok i get it..
last question...
so do you think a 750w corsair hx series psu can really do the job even if i do a two gtx275 instead of the two gtx 260's?
what do you think?

There is very little difference in power usage between the entire 200 series GPUs they all range from 180-210 watts peak. The manufacturing dictates the power usage more than the computing power.

im sorry HATCHER you lost me back there..
lets say i'll use Inno3d GTX 275 896mb/448bit ddr3 instead of the gtx 260, will the 750w be enough for it?

yeah it would be enough till bout 285 level

Reply to obsidian86

cool!! thanks a lot!!!
i guess this thread is done^^

Actually obsidian, the 275 uses more power than the 285.

GTX 285: 204W max

GTX 275: 219W max
http://www.nvidia.com/object/produ [...] 75_us.html
GTX 260: 182W max
http://www.nvidia.com/object/produ [...] 60_us.html

They are very close to the same power consumption.

The 295 is a dual core so of course it uses alot more power (289W max).

i noticed that as well hatcher.. so what do you think? can a 750w power two gtx275?

Reply to jisheria

I would think so. It depends on what else you have inside the system.

Try using a wattage calculator like this one:

its true obsidian, you'll see that gtx 275 is indeed power hungry ^^
but two of it surpasses gtx 295 so what i wanna make sure of is if my 750w can power it all^^

Reply to jisheria

Yes, the 750TX can power SLI GTX 275's. The 850TX gives a little more headroom, but you don't seem worried about that.

Reply to shortstuff_mt

yeah but how about 750w hx series? will that be enough?

Reply to jisheria

Yes, the 750HX is even better than the 750TX. They're both rated at 60A, but the HX is 80 PLUS SILVER Certified so it's more efficient.

COOL!!! now im at peace^^ il choose 750w then! thanks a lot!!!
