I am currently looking at a new processor and im currently running an amd athlon 64 x2 5400+ thats clocked in at 2.8ghz.

what im wondering is which one of this will be the best choice for gaming performance.
the E7500
Phenom II X3 720
Phenom II X4 940

if i remember correctly a lot of games give higher performance with the 7500 over the 720

i can easily oc the 940 to a 3.6ghz and then do 4 cores. would that be a better choice over the 720 or should i just cut my loses and overclock the 720 with three cores. or just snatch the dual core and moderately oc that.

hmmm decisions decisions.

If you have the budget get 955BE. Out of the three the 940 is the best.

i recommend getting the Phenom II X4 940, simply because its a quad core,
I'd also recommend getting the e7500 but obsolence is creeping up towards the older C2D processors

haha im trying to be the nice kid who doesn't demand much for christmas so the 955 is not an option lol... i was fine with l4d2, CODmw2, and a couple UE3 books but apparantly theres a line between two much and not enough. ehhhh cant complain.

thanks for the speedy reply tho man thats what i was expecting

oh man the joy of buying pc parts.... you can always $10-$15 yourself to death haha but thank you for pointing out its only a slight difference in price for the extra push. any reason i should consider this other than the .2ghz clock advantage.

hmmm amd has a write up on how to get the 955 to clock out at 4ghz with moderate ocing and air cooling... that sounds appealing

What motherboard do you have? It might support the 940/720, might not.
