  1. Yes its rather old news.
  2. YAY!!!!

Another CPU that gaming and most normal DT apps will yet to catch up to until it is considered pretty damn old.
  3. i have to agree with jimmysmitty. right now, even quad cores are pretty overkill. most apps only use two cores (if that) so even with another core handling all background processes, you still wont be using all of them fully.

6 cores will only help people who spend 10 hours a day or more encoding or compressing.
  4. There is no such thing as overkill.....you all need to stop being communists.
  5. And what does communism have to do with anything?

Although I have to agree having 4 cores isn't overkill - just because no single consumer app utilises all 4 cores, doesn't mean you won't make use of them - true multitasking anybody?

Even on the consumer desktop you can never have too much power.
  6. Is true, tom's hardware said this few weeks ago in the article of the new Phenom II X4 965 Same speed, less power. ( http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/phenom-x4-965,2468.html ) page 1.

And this X6 will be available on Q2 2010
