DVD/CD please insert a disc into drive F:

Hello,
My DVD/CD reader is not working. It says it's working in the device manager I have uninstalled and reinstalled it and there's been no problem with doing that. But the drive isn't even communicating with the computer, when I insert a CD or DVD, it makes the usual hum and blink of the green light but nothing comes up under the drive in My Computer and even when I use the drive to right-click eject. This does not work. It was working perfectly fine before a store serviced it. I've also tried withdrawing ad reinserting the plugs attached to the drive also.
I'm at my wits end.

I would just go out an purchase a new one for $20... You probably spent more time troubleshooting than it would cost to just replace. With a DVD drive, there price is such it doesn't make sense to do in-depth troubleshooting. Try a few things than just get a new one... IMO
