Hey guys, building a budget Core i5 system for my friend, suprised that i could atually do it :) But would just like some help to know ive got everything right.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: In the coming weeks
BUDGET RANGE: $1000 Australian
SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, multitasking, internet, msn etc
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard, Speakers.
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: www.umart.com.au www.msy.com.au
PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel, Mid tower case
OVERCLOCKING: NO SLI OR CROSSFIRE: NO
MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1680X1050 22"
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: cheap, new products (would like to avoid LGA 775) Future upgradable.

The parts i've picked so far

Case: Antec 300 - 94
CPU: Core i5 750 - 280
Motherboard: Gigabyte P55 UD3 - 168
GPU: Saphire ATI HD4870 512MB - 186
RAM: G.skill 4GB DDR3 1333mhz - 113
Harddrive: WD3200AAKS - 63
PSU: OCZ StealthXtreme 500W - 93
DVD: LG 22X - 60
OS: Windows Vista (free upgrade to 7)

Yeah, so the things i'm looking at changing.. the case i got doesnt have a window, so any sub 100$ aus cases with windows? What about cheap Modular PSU's? I'm looking at the Corsair HX450, will this be sufficent, and is it continuos power?

Yeah, thats it, i'm up for anything else you would change...
Thanks, Cahl

As of right now, it's 7:01 PM, Sunday 6 Sept. Checking Staticice.com.au, I cannot find that CPU in stock for that price (or any price, really...) so I'd like a link as well.

I am still waiting also and regarding its (Core i5's) absence from Australian sites I can't actually find it anywhere and i don't know a site for time difference info and the basic way for calculation just isn't that accurate!.

How much would the Board cost?!, as for $279 you could get an i7 920 instead of the i5 750 and a cheap Mobo (I don't actually know one) and for the RAM both use DDR3 and it DOESN'T require the RAMs installed to be Triple-channel as a cheap Dual-channel kit would do it and nothing else is required for the i7 platform to be functional and will give you better performance.

And it'd be nice if you included links for your other chosen parts (it doesn't have to be through a reseller as a Mfr. link would be enough ALONG with the price).

Regards.

***. And the NDA hasn't been officially lifted.... I think we'd better not leak this to Intel!
