O.K., so my laptop's dvd drive bit the dust so I bought a USB external one today. When I plugged it in and rebooted, Vista does not see it! At first it saw it for about a minute and was "installing drivers" for it (the bubble at the bottom right told me that) but now it just won't see it. I rebooted a number of times. I can press the button on the drive and it opens properly. I even put in an Ubuntu live disc and rebooted and it saw the disc perfectly and loaded it up and everything. I can see the drive in the BIOS. But windows JUST WONT SEE IT!! Please help. The box clearly says it's compatible with Vista 32-bit and my specs are well above the required ones. Thanks for your help.
