Upgrade questions

im currently using gx 260 and i have a spare machine gx 280

my question is can exchange the processor in the spare and put in my
current machine as far as i know both machines still have all factory componites

also can i switch out the fan

i thought about the battery supply as well but it appears the the connector that connects to the mother board is different

List the complete specs on both systems, there is no way to know if you can swap out the processors without knowing what they are.

wow what a quick responce only one problem i have know idea the dell optiplex gx 280 i found in trash a few years back and the del optiplex gx 260 i bought out of news paper 4 years ago the processor speed in current gx260 is 2.4 gigahtz and in the gx280 is 2.6

but as far as motherboards and othe info i wouldnt know where to look

The specs are so different that i would say no, you wont be able to get an 800MHz FSB Pentium to run well on a board that only supports 533 MHz, it will run significantly slower, i doubt the chipset even supports it.

oh well well maybe ill just try to get gx280 up and running

question 2 i bought an sata card with 2 internal sata ports and an ide port attached as well the gx 280 is sata ready i mean theres no on board ide connector other than the cd rom cable like i said i fished this computer out of the trash so whomever owned before me did something to the bios im geuessing. the sata drive inside at the time i tried reloading and wasnt able too

my question is on the sata card can i make master drive ide or does the master drive have to be sata if need any more info will ry to find thanks
