Thermal Paste in Bad Places

I changed motherboards recently, and when I removed the cpu from the original board I got a little thermal paste in a few of the pin slots of the cpu socket. Did I ruin that motherboard? Is it ok? Can it be cleaned out without damaging the board? The board was fine before, would be nice if I could salvage it for another build.

If you can get it out with rubbing alcohol the socket should be fine.

Isopropyl alcohol and a small soft bristle brush. And a lot of patience.

Make sure you don't leave any bristles or lint on the pibs or in the socket. Use a magnifying glass after the cleaning to make sure you didn't miss a spot!
