if you have a 1680 x 1050 resolution or lower, then definitely get the 275 as it have faster clock speed, and will operate faster in-most games than a 280.
but if you have a higher resolution then get the 280 as more bandwidth helps rendering more pixels per sec.
even though that the 280 is a little more expensive or having a higher number that doesn't always mean that its faster, more bandwidth is needed only at higher resolution but at low you need to look for ones that have higher clock speed with a good bandwidth but as for these 2, 1680 x 1050 or lower get a 275, if higher then a 280.

Does this have the same idea as what you mentioned about bandwidth vs clock speed?
I'm a bit confused as the 275's Clock and Memory speeds are faster than the 295's....
If getting either, I'd wait a few weeks as the 58xx's release is bound to knock the price down a bit. The 58xx is an alternative that should be considered unless you are interested in PhysX.

The GTX 295 is TWO down-clocked GTX 275s on one board.

no a 295 GTX is double what a GTX275
so baiscly its 576MHz X2 and 1242MHz X2, 295 GTX is much faster and better at all games.
@intelx, thats because ATI uses the new GDDR5 memory while Nvidia uses GDDR3, better memory will do better in higher resolutions, thats why ATI video cards are better than Nvidia at higher resolutions.
