AMD has not revealed any official details of the new middle class graphics cards HD 5770 and HD 5750, yet. But now the first forecasts are published.

The first estimation of AMD's forthcoming middle class graphics cards has been published by anandtech.com. Up to now the Ati Radeon cards of the 5700 series have been said to have 800 Stream Processors and a 128 Bit memory interface. But now new specifications are revealed.

According to the report the forthcoming graphics cards with the codename Juniper will have 1120 Stream Processors and 56 TMUs as well as a 192 memory interface. Thus the 5700 cards will most likely be faster than the 4800 models.

Furthermore it is rumored that Radeon HD 5770 graphics cards will be sold for about 199 USD and replace the HD 4890. The HD 5750 is supposed to replace the HD 4870 and cost 149 USD. Froma performance point of view both cards are expected to be on the level of Nvidia's GTX 260 and GTX 275. But the latter one is said to be not competitive because of the high production costs. The clock speeds and other specifications have not been estimated.

The graphics cards of the 5700 series are expected to be released in October, says anandtech. AMD's Hemlock dual GPU cards are supposed to follow in November.

I think as soon as amd get enough 40nm die in their stock and can produce at a large scale they are going to replace the 4 series with the 5series. As u see the 5770 replacing 4890 with new architechture, less power, and dx11 and 5750 replacing 4870 it is a good upgrade for anyone who is going for a mid range card with dx11 capabilities

if they can produce the 5series at larger scale they are going to discontinue the 48xx series(atleast thats what i heard). From what i heard the 48xx series will see a last price cut of $20-$30 then they are just going to be out of market. Its not sure though. So u may expect to see a 4870 at $120.

Yes, at some point the number of 4800 cards will begin to reduce and their prices will skyrocket. I don't think though that we will see the final price cuts until more 5870s and definitely 5850s (and perhaps even some of the 5700s) get out in hte wild. Retailers won't drop the price of the 4800s until something else is seriously selling in its place.

I was thinking of jumping on a 4850, because I do not want to strain my power with a 4870, but now it looks like I should just wait for a 5750 and get a huge performance upgrade. I hope the 5750 only requires 1 6-pin, if so I will be set.

I'd assume it only would require a six pin.

5870 >180-190W
5850 >150-160W
4850 >110-120W > one six pin

So I'd certainly hope going off the numbers for the top of the line that they can get the 57xx cards in at one six pin. But the final choice is up to them I guess.
