Linksys router cant access browser configuration

Hey
I've been searching a number of forums, trying to figure out how to access the browser configuration for my linksys wireless router.
Have tried the default 192.168.1.1. Doesn't work.
Have looked up default gateway. It's 24.41.40.97. Tried that and it doesn't work. I get the standard "failed to connect" or "page cannot be displayed message". Have tried holding down the reset button on the router and unplugging it for a while. Nothing seems to work. Please help!

how did you get the default gateway address? that one looks a bit odd for a default.

Can you ping the gateway?
