I need help fixing graphics problems with Age of Empires II

I keep losing the grapics on this game. Can you please help me. It goes form normal to wacky and wild colors and sometimes it goes to a black picture and I can hardly make out the game. please help me.

Get the system specifications for the game, then check that your graphics card is compatible.

To fix the color issue
1.change your window theme to windows 7 basic
2.go to screen resolution(leave this window open,do not close)
3.open the game and the color will be fixed

To fix full screen issue:
1.change the resolution to 1024x768
2.open the game and play
the opening page doesnt fit but the game does so start a game you'll understand
