...big one
the nvidia will be bigger
It will be mine...
Wow 0.0 that's one hellova card! €677... is that good? Seems like a lot to me.. lol
Well, that's pre-order, so the price is terrible (it also includes a bunch of taxes). I really would like to know what the clocks are, what the total power consumption is, when it is coming out, and of course how it performs. Nice pictures though, good to see they are moving right along.
But would I gain more performance from 5870 CF or 5870x2
Depends on the clocks. I thought all on one board helped inter-chip communitcation, however if the clocks have to be lowered to get it in under the PCI-E power limit, 5870 CF would win. Can't really say for sure until we get some benches.
Because if that thing is going to cost 677EURO-$1000 ,then I'd gladly choose another single 5870
+1^
I hope it will be like how 4870X2 was in 48xx series,i bought this card 2 years ago and its still kicking in games
Waiting for benchs
No, it won't cost that much for sure. The final price though is up to ATI, but I'm certain they wouldn't sell it for that. That retailer is just trying to profit off of people's excitement.
Imagine 2 in crossfire.....
Until Nvidia makes some moves they can basically name their price, but I would consider it probably would be the same percentage increase as the 4870x2 compared to the 4870.
So thats about $610 if the price scales the same. I wouldn't be surprised at a $599 price tag on it.
And if it turns out to be ~600, and it scales the same as a 4870x2 did performance wise, 2 of these would be a beast. You would be set for at least a few years.
I dont think there's any reason for Ati to come up with a 5870x2 right now at this moment. They should be concentrating on delivering the 5850, 5870,5770 and 5750 cards in pretty much sufficient quantity as these will be the cards that will take most of the market share. Atm 5870 itself takes the performance crown so until Nvidia come up with a card that yields pretty high (not just a mere 2 or 3%) there's no reason for them to come up with a 5870x2.

Just to remind you that the 48xx series are released 1 year ago not 2…

well that didn't make any sense, butt! I'll see what I can do
a Radeon HD 5870 X2 by Club3D is priced at 677 EUR (incl. applicable taxes, 568.9 EUR excluding)

Did you read what everyone else said?
Of course 99/100 people will not buy it. There are still those few that want to have it as soon as possible and will pay a premium.
The price is going to be a lot more reasonable than that unless ATI is out to gouge people which judging by their other prices, appears they are not.

If it is any bigger than the top card that being a 7900 gtx duo most people will be out of luck and would have to buy a new case. In the end its cool to look at but the one I bought didn't work so lets hope the 5870x2 is comperable to a pair of 5870s in crossfire -5 or 10% performance. I might pick one up when I get a job to replace my 9800gt on my sli rig and throw my 9800gt in the lower slot while downgrading the driver for physx.
Dude it's called the 7900GX2, and it was essentially an OEM only card (for the like of Dell), but even that wasn't the biggest cards, there were SINGLE card dual-GF7 cards, they were significantly bigger like the ASUS.
Anywhoo, buying a case for something like that is likely not that big a deal for someone already willing to pay $500-600 for a card.
Still not as big as an Evans & Sutherland 4 GPU SIM card, and of course there's the all time best and biggest card;

No they came out before the GX2 branding was established.
wow that thing is huge! i'm wondering how hot it is gonna be
That's the pre-launch sticker, the Branding actually was established at launch, as they appeared in the DELL computers and in the reviews, like the source of your picture whose title has the GX2 name in it.
What you see there is the name they gave the early engineering samples used @ CES and the early reviews.
It's like the G200 is the G200 and not GT200, but people incorrectly call it by the pre-fab code name.
EDIT: Tracked down that review and it's pretty clear in it;

What’s in a name?
One of the more confusing aspects of Quad SLI is the actual name of the product. Over the past few months we’ve seen it referred to by multiple product names, ranging from “GeForce 7900 Duo” to the “GeForce 7900 GX2” and “GeForce 7900 Quad”. Judging by the EVGA graphics cards used in our ABS Quad SLI system, it looks like NVIDIA’s board partners are equally confused, as the back of both cards was clearly labeled “e-GeForce 7900GTX QUAD”.
This label suggests that NVIDIA’s Quad SLI cards are based on NVIDIA’s recently released GeForce 7900 GTX GPU, but actually NVIDIA’s first Quad SLI card is more of a hybrid of the GeForce 7900 GT and GeForce 7900 GTX..
...
Because of this, NVIDIA ultimately settled on the name GeForce 7900 GX2 for their Quad SLI cards.
BTW, trust me on GPU history. ![]()
So much for a dual core design, looks like this card will be using twin GPU's like it's predecessors. Once again this is prove that you shouldn't listen to rumours.
You can listen to rumours, you just shouldn't bet or invest in them.
However if you look at the design, there's a distinct 2 parted-ness to it, without actually making distinct core. One the HD5870 came out though we new the dual core GPU rumours were out, and then beyond that with the limited internal hardware, an MCM dual die solution was prety much a no-go too.
Perhaps in the future, but not this round, still a possibilty in the refresh, but I wouldn't bet on it. ![]()
Well I could get a new furnace... or I could buy 2 of these. I think theyll work about the same.

get the cards, they'll be a lot more fun than a new furnace.
Yea, I got tired of staring at my furnace, so a card is better

I've always called it G200 because that's what it says on the IHS.
