7.1 Sound Card for Windows 7

Forum CPU & Components : Sound Cards 7.1 Sound Card for Windows 7

I am currently using an x-fi xtreme gamer on windows 7 x64 and having sound issues including echoes and crackling in the sound. I am looking to updgrade to something else for windows 7 x64. Does anyone have any experiences with the Asus or Ht cards and Windows 7 x64? It's very hard to decide. Seems like it's hard to find any card not having issues with there Windows 7 drivers. I use the sound card primarily for gaming and some music. Any input would be appreciated.

Try the motherboard's integrated sound. Does it have the same issue?

No it does not however I am going to use the onboard sound to power a set of 2.1 speakers. I bought the 5.1 headset with the 3.5mm audio jacks instead of the usb ones for better surround sound and I have them plugged into the Xfi. So I was wanting to replace this X-Fi with something else. I guess from what I have been reading there having issues with the creative sound card drivers while running over 4gb of memory for some reason or another.

ASUS and HT are both based off the excellent C-Media Oxegyn chipset, which in my mind offers better quality then any Creative chipset. Never used HT myself, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. Currently using my D2 on 7 with no issues whatsoever.
