Missing documents

My computer had a virus. Now when I open my documents folder the documents are gone. (Same with the pictures.) However, when I open Word, Powerpoint or Excel, my documents that I have recently used are there and I can open them. When I try to re-save the documents, a message comes up saying this document already exists & do I want to replace it. How can I find my documents, that seem to still be somewhere?

Have you tried looking at the documents folder with the option to show Hidden files / folders. Maybe the virus effected how they appear. Also, have you double checked the location of the files when you try and save over them. It could be in a different location?

Not a problem... I'm glad it was something simple for the most part with being hidden. The main thing is you cleaned the virus off your computer, so hopefully all is good going forward
