My cd dvd device does not burn dvds

Hello,
I have never burnt a dvd on my current laptop before and when i try to write one the drive does not recognize a blank dvd. However I can play a movie. The dvd is not damaged as it is being recognised in another computer

Is it perhaps a DVD player and not a DVD burner? Has it ever burnt a disk?

Can you use the model and serial number to look up your specs on the manufacturer's site and see if it is supposed to be a burner?

Most likely you have a Dvd Rom cd burner combo.
