i am looking for advice on removing a BGA. Intel SLB95 GL40 and replacing it with a SLB94 GM45 the chip set is identical package installed on an identical mother board and uses the exact same ich9 southbridge.

I would recommend checking Google for specific advice on soldering BGA chips.

As with the above, I would also recommend against doing this.
Besides the high probability of bricking the board replacing the chip, your motherboard/BIOS was designed to use the chipset installed and no other.
Even if you successfully solder a newer chipset onto the board, I highly doubt it will function.

intel pentium dual t3200 2 cores 2.00 ghz front side bus 667mhz
socket P (478)

65nm

main board toshiba

chipset Gl40 rev 7
southbridge ich9-m

bios Insyde ver 1.9 <<<_____ same as unit using the gm45 chipset with the same southbridge

ddr memory 800mhz 4 gig

graphics mobile intel 4 series express chipset family

toshiba Satellite laptop L355-S7831 model #PSLD8U-00G001 < ------ this is all of above

the toshiba L355-S7835 comes with the gm45 chipset Model #PSLD8U-01F00Y <----- exact same unit as mine except it has a frontside bus up to 1066mhz allowing for a faster cpu with more L2 cache because of the gm45 chipset with the same southbridge that i have ich9-m same bios same case same windows version etc

is there any reason why the new gm45 chipset would not work if i have it professionally installed

the intel data sheet says it is the exact same pinout as the gl40 chipset and the pm45 <_____ it shows one pinout for all three chipsets the gm 45 and gl40 both feature integrated graphics the pm 45 has pci for graphics but the gm45 and gl40 also have pci graphics options built into the package so if the board supported it you could install a graphics card

im all confused too because sisoft sandra software shows a gm45/pm 45 chipset and cpuid shows a gl40....im still in research ...if u come up with some kind of upgrade let me posted pls. thx.
