First time builder - Looking to upgrade from my current PC for some mild gaming.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Within the week BUDGET RANGE: Max $750

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, Speakers

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg.com

PARTS PREFERENCES: AMD and Radeon, I'm not too picky though

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920 x 1080

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I've been reading throughout these forums for a couple of weeks and decided to see if I've got the system somewhat right. I'm just trying to upgrade my PC for some gaming (World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, etc) and upgrade into Windows 7. Trying to stay under $750 is the main goal while fitting my monitor's native resolution. I'm in Texas so I prefer Newegg for the tax free benefit :)

Total including shipping comes out to around $751 which is the max I'm able to do at the current time. I could probably save some cash with some combo deals but this is kind of a rough draft since items keep going out of stock so quickly.

Thanks for any input.

The antec 300 only comes with top and rear fans. I really like having at least one front fan to blow cold air from the front across the HDD and force air currents flowing from front to back. You might want to get at least one 120mm case fan for the front (doesnt have to be an antec fan - can get decent fans for $5).

Those components all look good to me.

Be careful with heat if you are overclocking with the stock heatsink and dont have extra case fans to help the GPU. You can get some overclocking, just watch the heat.

Got it, thanks for the tip!

Question about the video card I've chosen - I was wondering if I could save some money by going with the 512mb instead of the 1gb 4870. Do you think there'd be a huge difference while running 1920x1080?

There is a difference - but not a huge difference. And the cost difference is just $20.
[strike]--> How about a X3 720 & SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 4870 1GB combo deal for $20 off? [/strike]

For an idea the 1GB vs 512MB difference look at this article: AnandTech 4870 1GB review be sure to look at the 1920x1200 results, usually in the table below the charts.

edit; The combo deal was for a 4890 GPU.
Your X3 & SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon choices are already $30 less than the combo deal
