Powering up issues ><

I am currently having a powering on issue, basically when I hit my power button it starts up (fans, lights, etc) and then goes off. This happens repeatedly, and I sit here just hitting it, it will eventually stay on. As you can see, I rarely want to shut down because of this. I am wondering where I should trouble shoot, my case ( power button)? ( admittedly it was a cheap case from New Egg), or could it be a power supply issue?

I am using a Thermaltake PS 500 Watt http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153052
this is the case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811164040

And the rest:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard
PNY GTX 260 Video Card
and 6G of Ram

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me mad, thanks.

I should add, my old video card fried out on me recently, so I installed the gtx 260 and bought Windows 7 for a fresh install. So I am wondering is this a factor, and resetting the Bios would work. I have never reset it, and the idea makes me nervous, but after your suggestion I have looked into it. Just thought maybe this other info might be more helpful, thanks for the response.
