Well I have an i7 950 D0 and my Computer teacher(in school) (who is also a gamer.................taught me PC stuff) has an i7 920 C0

well he still owes me some cash (like about $35) and he wants to trade his 920 for my 950 so the value of the trade will be about $40 but instead of actually giving me the cash he will just give?(maybe kinda like sell) me his MSI GTX 460 Twin frozr II

Is this a good deal?

additional info: my current is a Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 Vapor X OC ed.

in total the 460 would cost like $75

Solution
All things equal, these two CPU's perform nearly the same.

A GTX 460 is about 10-15% faster than a 5770 or more depending on the game so it'll be a good upgrade either way.

A C0 stepping has a slightly lower average overclock than a D0 (around 3.7-3.8ghz) which can get up and around 4.0ghz.

hm... you owe him or he owes you money? because as far as i know the 950 is superior and more expensive than the 920 so swapping the 950 for a 920 you would lose performance and money
and buying a 460? is it the 1gb version or 768mb one...
well either one wouldnt be a huge upgrade from your current 5770
not somewhere i would spend $75 on...
id save for a future upgrade or just use to hang out!

He owes me

so remove what he owes me then we will swap CPU's and I get the 460 without pretty much paying anything

and no Im not sure if this is a good deal but I'm not stupid when it comes to hardware.

I know that the 950 is better than the 920 but in The Philippines a second hand Palit 460 is already 5500 pesos and the 460 he will be "selling me" is just like worth 4000 and yet its twin frozr II which is not exactly rare but uncommon and somewhat expensive here (by about 2000 pesos more before for brand new than other brands except EVGA)

id do the swap and get the graphics card as well.. the 920 will nearly overclock as much as an overclocked 950.. so near as damn it you will end up with the same spped
