i have a 24" monitor on the way and am wondering what the max resolution the 8800gt or 9800gt will run smooth on as the monitor native res is 1920?
Reason i need these cards is because i have only room for a single slot card and have only one 6 pin connector, so i am limited to one of these cards..Help please?

Just put a 8800GT in my system, it's OK at 1920x1200, but do not expect it, or the 9800GT to run demanding titles at maximum settings.
As a point of interest, the reference HD4850 cards also use a single slot cooler but if your case lacks airflow you should aviod them:

It WILL run it, but not well. I suggest a 1GB card for that resolution. I'm running a HD4870 1GB and it runs beautifully on my 24". They can be found for as cheap as $130!
