Replace CPU fan

Hello all, I have an older computer with a Pentium 4 / 2.40 Ghz CPU.

I wish to replace the existing Chinese made fan with a decent brandname replacement.

I want to match the fan size with the heat generated by this particular CPU.

As you all know, I don't need a huge fan, just the right size to cool this particular CPU.

The fan would have to be fitted with ball bearings, not a cheap sleeves like the Chinese one that is already fitted.

Can any of you advise me on a brandname fan and the model needed?

Just as an aside, I am currently building a new computer with Noctua case fans and Noctua CPU fan.

id say go with another noctua.

i belive P4s use the same size fans as newer CPU heatsinks, so the same one you use in your new build should work with the old proc.

if its socket 478 , then u have exactly the same cpu as my earlier one , it has 60 watts tdp . the stock fan is ok at stock speeds , because i dont think u can overclock it for much of a difference anyway .

There are advantages and disadvantages to ball bearing and sleeveless fans.

Sleeveless fans will last about 3 years while ball bearing fans will last 4 years.

Ball bearing fans are considerably more expensive than sleeveless fans. Are you really going to keep your Pentium 4 for that much longer?
