I5 Gaming Build, ~$1000

So I had a Phenom x4 build all figured out a couple months ago - now everyone is recommending i5 over AMD and I don't want the buyer's remorse when I still have a shot at starting over.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Either Friday or sometime this weekend.

BUDGET RANGE: About $1000. Gotta factor in taxes though because I'm ordering in California.

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, general web browsing, watching movies, listening to music.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: DVD/DVD-RW drive, keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers.

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg.

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel i5, Gigabyte mobo. There is some other stuff that I've already picked out but I'm open to new suggestions. I've also been liking the ATI HD4870 1GB, but whatever will give me decent performance with my 1080p monitor is fine for me. I don't plan on upgrading the monitor anytime soon (it's not even a year old yet).

OVERCLOCKING: No.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Crossfire and SLI aren't important to me, as I probably won't be buying another video card in the foreseeable future.

What I've got so far:

Case: Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail - $69.95

Hard drive: Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - OEM - $74.99

OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders w/ Tech Guarantee - OEM - $109.99

External enclosure: Rosewill RX35-AT-SU BLK 3.5" Black USB 2.0 External Enclosure - Retail - $19.99

The exclosure is for one of my old hard drives that I'd like to turn portable.

Thanks!

Tomorrow AMD is holding a press conference - supposedly to launch the HD5000 series DX11 graphics cards. Nvidia is holding a press conference so ATI doesnt get all the attention. Possibly GPU prices will drop next week.

AMD has to slash processor prices now too. Expect the 965 to be at or under $200 by monday IMO . If its not then there is no reason to consider Phenom instead of an i5 build
