Dell inspiron 530 memory upgrade problem help

Hi, I install on dell inspiron 530 upgrade of pare 1 GB stick. I use to check what kind is more suitable. But is a result system configuration shows, that their is only 3076 MB in use. I expect to see something around 4000 MB. Performance a little beat better, PC works normal.

You are not accounting for memory used for system overhead, etc.

If you have 32 bit Windows, the system will only be able to use around 3 gig, exact amount depends on the motherboard. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/hardware/clearing-up-the-3264...

4 gig is a bit of a waste in a 32 bit system, but may be needed to get dual-channel running.
