Because of a hard drive failure I am back to using my old computer for the time being.

But, recently this computer developed a very irritating problem. Windows cannot seem to use my sound card. I am running some audio programs that can ascess the sound card directly, these work fine, but windows itself, and any program using default windows setting cannot produce any sound.

The device manager can see the sound card, but the option to select it for input or output in the audio panel of sounds and audio devices is just greyed out.

Oddly enough, this problem started when I disabled a webcam in the device manager.

I am running windows XP home edition (I think), the sound card is a Creative Audigy 4. I am willing to provide any other information, screenshots or run diagnostics if nessicary. Please help!
