Pentium D 945 vs. E8600

I have an Asus p5N32-e Sli MoBo with a PD 945 in it. Would the E8600 be a big improvement or would it be just a waste of money? If anyone has any other thoughts about what would be the best processor for this board, I am open for suggestions.

No contest - huge improvement.

However, I would put in an E8400 with a good cooler and overclock it.

The E8XXX series will blow the pentium D out of the water all around. My 3.4ghz pentium D is pretty sluggish compared to my e6750.
