Hi, I am contemplating replacing my Hitachi WD5000BEKT with a Western Digital WD5000BEKT but was not sure this would be a significant performance upgrade for my laptop since it only has a Sata1 (1.5 Gb/s) controller. What do you guys think? I am only interested in the performance and not the capacity of the drives. Thank you

Yes, you should see a performance increase, due to both the faster spindle speed and a higher data density.

if you are looking for speed and have the money just get yourself and ssd....they are well worth it...my daughter has dropped our laptop and the floor at least 5 time and i actually dropped it from about 4 feet on the carped....if there was a mechanical disk it would have been gone long time go.....trust me SSD is the way to go for a mobile platform
