Generally speaking, motherboards with multiple graphic card slots are labeled PCI-E_1, PCI-E_2, PCI-E_3 and so on. Numbering generally begins with the slot closest to the processor.

If you want more detail, it might help if you told us what motherboard you have.

How do I find out what motherboard I have?

Look up the specs of your PC. I may also be printed on the motherboard itself.

Hmmm. what brand PC is it? is it an HP? If so does it look like the board on the page below? If so the Black slot is an x16 PCI-E and the white is just a standard PCI slot. The 2 little black ones are PCI-E x1 slots.

Yes it is a HP (a6332.uk) and it looks like the picture. Is it only worth it to use the PCI-E slot (I only have a 17 inch monitor).

You can only use the PCI-E slot, as you wouldn't find a PCI card that can match with a PCI-E.
