Wife bought me an asus 4870 dark night from newegg not realizing that it was an open item. Card came without the driver. Can I still install and download the driver from the net? First time build and not sure what should be my next step.

Yes, you can just download and install the drivers off the internet. It is recommended anyhow, as the drivers are updated constantly, and the disc drivers are only as new as the printing of the disc.

Yep, just make sure you dont have any nVidia drivers on your pc

will the card display without the driver...I guess my question is, will I be able to get on the net to dowload the driver...sorry for the dumb question.

If youre seeing something now, its all good, either you have a igp (internal gfx) already on your mobo, or its Micro Soft drivers, either way, yes
