GTX580 / Corsair AX1200 setup question

My GTX580 is equipped with an 8 pin and a 6 pin plug for power. The Corsair AX1200 PSU comes with an 8 pin cord, however not a 6 pin cord. Should I simply use an additional 8 pin cord and leave the 2 pin attachment hang?

Yes. I have an ax-850, mine the 8pin connector has 2 pins not attached to the other 6 to do just this, I assume yours is the same.

Benikens is correct.

The power cords that are configured as 6 + 2 are designed to be used with both 6 and 8 pin GPUs. The design is so that the PSU manufacturers provide compatibility for more GPU configurations.
