I hoping to purchase a new computer by christmas time. I currently own a PC with the lowest end core i7 (920) with dual 4890's and 8GB DDR3 ram.
I still can't play crysis at 1920 x 1200 with max settings and x16 AA. Will the following system run these settings above 50fps?
Intel Core i7 975 Extreme OCed to 3.0GHz
Dual 5870's OCed
24GB DDR3 RAM
Liquid Nitrogen Trays and Liquid cooling
I got a bonus of 6,000$ and im willing to spend another 2000$
try quadfire with two 5870X2s, but keep the old system, just replace the GPUs and overclock the cpu, you should get like 3.8-3.9GHz out of it. maybe ad watercooling if you like to tinker a bit...

Hmm im gonna need a new motherboard for quadfire, will the 4890's work with the 5870's? That would be absolulty sickening if they did

Um... i7 and lowend should never be used together. Just Get a good cooler and OC the 920 to 4GHz and get (2) 5870's in CF or wait until the 5870x2 comes out. That or just get (2) GTX 295's in SLI if you can't wait. Well depending on what 1366 board you have it should support both, the lower end cheap ones only support Crossfire.
24GB of RAM would be pointless. Just a question, how can you have 8GB of RAM on an i7 920.. U guess you are only running dual channel not triple.
Is this a brand PC or did you build this or have someone build this for you? What PSU do you have?

I have a 1000W PSU and one of the RAM slots is empty
