New AMD system. Upon re-boot the new hardware wizard finds new hardware but can't locate the software on the ASUS disk or elsewhere. Device manager shows it as an "unknown device". How can I find out what this is or get rid of it? I've already tried uninstalling it but it gets re-detected. There's nothing attached to the machine internally or externally that isn't accounted for and working OK.

What motherboard and what are the properties of that device? You should see something like PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_244E&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_D3\3&61AAA01&0&F0 and that along with other entries should be enough to identify what it is.

I've been making this machine current all day and somewhere along the way this unknown devise disappeared from the device manager. Let's hope it stays gone. By the way there was no identifiers just a comment under "location". It said "on ISA standard bridge". Maybe I did something in the BIOS to get rid of it. Who knows. Thanks anyway.
