Unable to display shortcuts on desktop

I had some kind of virus hit me, and my shortcuts won't display on desktop. Also unable to even right click on desktop. Any ideas?

I had some kind of virus hit me, and my shortcuts won't display on desktop. Also unable to even right click on desktop. Any ideas?

The infection probably hid the folders/files. If you can get to internet, download a utility "unhide" - I think it is at bleepingcomputer.com.

Do it in safe mode with Internet if you can't do it in normal startup.

Also - do not delete any Temporary folders, Temp folders, etc, because unhide may not find everything, and the files/folders usually end up there.
