I used the XP Install Disk to erase the partition on C: Drive, create a new partition on C: Drive, format that partition (a "slow format," not a "quick format" ) and then reinstalled XP, Service Pack 3 and updates.
Windows put a directory on D: Drive that is named with a long string of random characters. That directory has two folders that appear to contain print drivers (e.g. msxpsdrv.ini, etc) That folder also appears on my XP laptop, but it is located in the C:\Windows directory. It is named differently but with the same random character convention and it contains the same folders and files.
The directory cannot be deleted and appears to be required by XP as it is running. How do I force the XP Install Disk to put that directory in C:\Windows? If the OS needs that directory in order to run, then I can never remove or replace the D: Drive.
