I understand there is going to be quite a dip on the GT200 nVidia cards. Now I'm wondering, should I go ahead and pick up a 5870 or wait for some price drops and pick up another GTX 285 for SLI? I know 5870s are built futureproofed for DX11 but DX11 is still in development anyway and I can wait a bit longer or the release of 5890 and the GT300 series. For now, though, I would love to know how two GTX 285s in SLI compare to a single 5870. Thanks for any input!

In synthetic benchmarks, 2x285 is about 30% faster than a single 5870. 2x285 maintains that lead in many games. See:

if you already have 1 GTX285 and don't mind only using DX10 on future games, then get a second one, that would still be one hell of a graphics setup

Awesome. I'll guess I'll just pick up another 285 (some are going for 200 on ebay!) and upgrade in a later future. Thanks for the input guys.

^Be careful if buying used GPUs from Ebay. And yes, +1 for the SLI.
