I'm just wondering because if my e8400 is bottlenecking a 5870 that means that I would need to go pick up an i5/i5mobo/ddr3 for an extra 500$ (or so), and id rather not at this time (not strapped for cash atm)
Well i think there might be some CPU bottleneck, my E8400 @ 4.05ghz slightly bottlenecks 2 hd4870's in crossfire and that 5870 is faster than 2x4870's.
I dnt think it will bottleneck alot, but maybe slightly.

Drop by and let me know.
Thanks.
It probably would, but at a socket 775 you could get a Q9XXX, could you not?
Well I guess I could go for a q9 but 775 is slowly getting outdated... and i5 just seems the better choice at this point in time...
I'm pretty sure my e8400 is from a bad batch because I can't even load Windows at 4.0ghz 9 x 444 with a voltage of 1.4 and my 1000 mhz rated ram running at 800 mhz, 5 5 5 15 timings =/
Even right now at 3.6 my e8400 reaches mid/high 60's on intelburn test, which doesn't make sense because I'm running an OCZ vendetta 2 with OCZ freeze extreme TP.
