CPU fan stopped while running speedfan

Hi all,

I just built my system and here's the spec of the system:

AMD phenonIIx4 965
Asus M4A79XTD EVO
OCZ DDR3 memory

I was running prime95 to make sure everything is stable and was running speedfan at the meanwhile. Everything was fine for a while. After a while, the CPU fan stopped spinning and I had to restart to make it to run. I tried running prime95 again with speedfan closed. It's doing fine for the past 10 hours or so. I'm wondering if I configured speedfan wrong or other stuff that I did. One specific problem I can think of is that I have QFan (Asus BIOS controlling the fans?) turned on. I don't know if it would make a difference.

I have another question concerning speedfan. Does it control 3-pin fan header also or 4-pin fan header only? My case fans only came with molex. I am thinking of buying the moles to 3-pin converter so I can use speedfan on the case fans too.

I wouldn't know what's causing your fan to stop, but for CPU fan connectors, it doesn't matter if the plug is a 3- or 4-pin setup—so long as you plug the connector in properly.
