Hello,
I have a Dell Latitude CSX 500 with W2000 Pro on it. Don't love the OS.
Can I upgrade to WXP Home version?
Does this PIII laptop have the horsepower to run WXP?
Help, Thanks.

The specifications are here. It does not look like it has the horsepower to run XP - it is constrained to 320MB of RAM, and says the standard RAM in your machine was 64MB.

Thanks. If I max out the RAM and with a 500Mhz PIII can it run XP Home? Running W2000 has been giving me problems for a few years. I got it as a part of my severance back in in the early 2000s. It has a magnesium case and was a great laptop. I have lots of legacy software (W95 and W98) I'd like to continue using. My 2 new 64bit W7 laptops won't run this old software. Thoughts? Thanks again! If you have W98, it would likely run that pretty well, and that would run all those old games, too. If I remember correctly, XP will not run many of those W95 and W98 games because it was built on NT4 and not W95 architecture. Thanks again! Michael
You're welcome.

Hi treefrog07
I went to a local PC shop and chatted with the owner. He said forget it, waste of time to upgrade the RAM, buy WXP which is not supported by MSh have newer apps run really slow, and so on. I hate to let go of it, but gotta be realistic. Thanks for all your help

You're welcome. If you really want to run the old games, put W98 or W95 on it.
