Hi gang,
Just wondering if the old hyper 6+ I inherited would work on the AMD PhenomII X3 720 that I recently purchased? The stock cooler is a real lame event, without even a hint of copper on it.(reminds me of the old k6 coolers) I am using an ASUS M4A785-M mainboard.
Thanks in advance

The answer to your question is no. It was designed for the old AMD Athalon 64 and Intel Pentium 4 cpu's (socket 478 and 574).

Here's link to an old technical review from 20 April 2004:

The new and improved versions designed for your newer AMD Phenom II are the Hyper 212 and Hyper 212 Extreme.

Hi all,

Thanks
Here is the reply
Although it is an older cooler, it should have no problem handling your phenom. When using it, please monitor temperatures to verify its performance.
