Hey guys,

I'm looking to upgrade from my 8800gts 320mb and I have my eye on the new 5850's coming out this week. My concern is that I am running a P35 northbridge which only supports PCI Express x16 v1.1 instead of 2.0. I have read a lot that current cards have yet to max out the 1.1's bandwidth and thus isn't a bottleneck, but has the new generation reached that point? I realize that he card will still work with 1.1, but,

Will a 5850 be bottlenecked by PCIe 1.1?

Thanks

PCI-E 2.0 8x provides identical bandwidth as PCI-E 1.1 16x, as you can see by the review here the effect on 2 5850s in crossfire was minimal

it barely saturates the 8x bandwidth so you wont have a noticeable performance hit.

Short answer... No.
You will not experience any bottleneck at all.
