Windows xp and HP printer

Hello,I have window xp. My HP officejet pro 8500 a909n will not scan from the PC. I erased HP software, to reload the sofware but my cd will not load????????
I understand that I can get updated drivers from the web, How do I get the new software.

Note the same disk is used for my Macbook. and it works fine.
